Extatosoma tiaratum (macleay's spectre)
Extatosoma tiaratum, commonly known as the spiny leaf insect, the giant prickly stick insect, Macleay's spectre,or the Australian walking stick, is a large species of Australian stick insect.
E. tiaratum are herbivores and although they thrive on Eucalyptus which is their native food, breeders abroad recommend feeding them bayberry, bramble, hawthorne, hazel and oak.
Although they survive well on non-eucalypt leaves, they don't always grow as large or retain the same natural colour.
keep this species at room temperature 20C and lightly spray water on the food plant every few days. Their native food is the Eucalyptus, but they take Bramble very well. Try and feed them the old leaves rather then the new ones, as this is what they prefer.
Not sexed.
