OTHER INVERTS

Its common name derives from its black and orange-yellow striped coloration and its hissing sound when disturbed, which is produced when they forcefully expel air through the specially-adapted respiratory openings (spiracles) on the fourth segment of their body. Body length varies around 35–50 mm for females, and 40–50 mm in males.

  • They can be kept in a terrarium or other enclosure with plenty of hiding spots and a shallow water dish. A screen top is important to prevent escapes. You can house one or two hissing cockroaches in a half-gallon container, but a group should be kept in a 10-gallon or larger habitat.

    Temperature
They thrive in warm, humid environments. A temperature range of 77–82°F during the day and mid to high 70°F at night is ideal. You can use a heat pad or heat lamp to keep them warmer.

    Humidity
Keep the humidity between 60–80%. You can mist the enclosure with water every other day.

    Diet
Feed them fresh fruits and vegetables, and occasionally add protein sources like fish flakes or dog food.

    Substrate
You can use coconut fiber kept slightly damp as a substrate. You can also add a layer of leaf litter or rotting wood to create a forest floor-like layer.

    Lifespan
Hissing cockroaches typically live 2–3 years, but can live up to 4 or 5 years with excellent care.

Blaberus giganteus is considered one of the largest cockroaches in the world, with males reaching lengths of up to 7.5 cm (3.0 in) and females 10 cm (3.9 in), although others list 9 cm (3.5 in) as the maximum length. These cockroaches are lightly built with flattened bodies, allowing them to hide in cracks from predators. Their bodies are brown with black markings. The wingspan of these insects is usually around 15 cm (6 in).Both males and females bear paired appendages (cerci) on the last abdominal segment, but only the males have a pair of tiny hair-like appendages called styli. Adults bear two pairs of wings folding back over the abdomen. The heavier females are less likely to fly.

Scorpions are cold-blooded and need a heat source to maintain a temperature of around 25°C, with a gradient from cooler to hotter ends. A heat mat can be used to provide this heat, but it should be thermostatically controlled and not cover the entire enclosure. You can also use a hot rock or heat lamp.
Humidity
Scorpions need humidity to prevent them from drying out.  70/80
Enclosure
Glass terrariums are a good choice for scorpions because they allow heat to escape, keeping the enclosure cool. The enclosure should be large enough for the scorpion to move around in.
Feeding
Scorpiops are carnivorous and eat insects, at the moment they are on fruit flies.

  • Giant olive millipedes need a secure, escape-proof enclosure that's at least twice as long as the longest millipede. A small aquarium or large jar is ideal. The enclosure should be kept in a place away from drafts and direct sunlight.

  • Temperature
Giant olive millipedes prefer a temperature between 24°C and 26°C (75°F and 79°F). If the enclosure is cooler, you can use a heat mat.

  • Humidity
Keep the humidity high, around 70-80%, by misting the enclosure regularly. The substrate should be damp but not wet.
    Substrate
Provide a deep layer of soil or mulch that's at least 10 cm high. The substrate should be enriched with natural organic matter like moss, decayed wood, and leaf litter.

    Food
Giant olive millipedes eat a variety of foods, including fruits, vegetables, leaf litter, dead wood, and high-protein food like dead insects and fish flakes. You can also dust their food with calcium powder.
